Singapore’s most famous shopping belt, Orchard Road will once again play host to a women only sporting event, the Anlene Orchard Mile 2008 as participants run or walk a mile (1.6 kilometres) down the popular street on June 15. Two lanes of Orchard Road will be closed from 7.30 am to 10.00 am for the event as organisers are expecting 5,000 women, of all ages, shapes and sizes to throng the streets. Last year’s inaugural run saw over 2,000 female participants taking part.
Beginning near Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station and ending near Orchard MRT station, participants will run past famous landmarks and shopping malls such as the Istana, Centrepoint, Emerald Hill, Paragon and Ngee Ann City.
