The 2013 ASP Women's Longboard 2-Star event, the Roxy Waikiki Classic

The 2013 ASP Women’s Longboard 2-Star event, the Roxy Waikiki Classic, kicked off the weekend with solid surfing from girls that traveled near and far for the
only WCT qualifier in Hawaii. The final started off the weekend of pro and
amateur events, and Geodee Clark was crowned the champion of the ASP pro
division to wrap it up on Sunday.

The waves at Queens Beach were 2-3 feet, but there were some decent ones to
be ridden in the knee to waist high range, and enough for the girls to
dominate the finals and showcase their skills Saturday afternoon.

In such small conditions, the final heat started out slow with the incoming
tide and one-wave sets. 2012 Waikiki Classic Champ Crystal Dzigas surfed
her way to the finals with Ashley Ahina, Megan Godinez, and Geodee Clark.
But the last woman standing, Geodee Clark proved to be the event’s top
performing surfer after posting solid scores in the excellent range. “I was
in the right place at the right time to get the two set waves that came
through in the heat,” said Clark. “But Megan Godinez was another standout
that put together solid scores from round one with big carves and
roundhouse attacks to reach finals.”

“When my name was called and my friends were jumping up and down and
cheering, I was speechless, but so happy at the same time,” said Clark.
“This is my first ASP win. Going into this event, my mindset was to just
surf heats as if I were free surfing Queens on a regular day. I was so
excited to be surfing a big event at home. Thanks to my supportive family
and friends, Kokoe Uemura, and a big thanks to Roxy for coming down to Oahu
and putting this event together for women who longboard and shortboard.
Mahalo Nui.”
