Tessa Worley of France wins World Cup Giant Slalom in Sweden

France’s Tessa Worley won a World Cup giant slalom for the second time in her career, taking today’s GS in Åre, SWE.

Today’s race is televised on CBC with coverage beginning at 2 p.m. ET as well as on cbcsports.ca. French language viewers can find it on Radio-Canada at 3 p.m. ET.

Worley was impressive in both runs, leading by almost a second and then holding on to win in a two-run combined time of two minutes 23.22 seconds.

Slovenian Tina Maze was 0.57s seconds back in second place with Austrian Kathrin Zettel finishing third in 2:23.91.

Marie-Michèle Gagnon (Lac-Etchemin, QC) was poised for another solid GS result, sitting 28th after the opening run, but she was unable to complete her second run.

Marie-Pier Préfontaine (Saint-Sauveur, QC) and Brigitte Acton (Mont-Tremblant, QC) did not qualify for the second run, finishing 42nd and 46th respectively in the first run.

The World Cup in Åre concludes tomorrow with a ladies slalom race. Canadians scheduled to participate in that event include Gagnon, Préfontaine, Acton and Anna Goodman (Pointe Claire, QC).
