TeamBath netballers make up half of England squad

TeamBath netballers will make up half of the England squad to take on Jamaica next month, England Netball has announced.

Six TeamBath players – Sara Bayman, Eboni Beckford-Chambers, Pamela Cookey, Rachel Dunn, Tamsin Greenway and Geva Mentor are named in the 12-strong squad.

All six have played a part in helping TeamBath’s outstanding run in the Co-operative Superleague this season. Team Bath have won all 11 of their contests so far this season to top the Superleague table and are the only side with a 100 per cent record.

Most of them have also been involved with the TeamBath netball programme for more than five years, showing how TeamBath’s policy of developing talented young players has and continues to benefit both TeamBath and England.

Jan Crabtree, director of netball coaching at the TeamBath Superleague franchise, said: “We are really pleased that six members of the TeamBath squad have made the England 12 and will have the opportunity to represent their country against Jamaica.

“It’s a great honour and a reflection of the hard work they have been putting in for TeamBath in the Superleague and within the England set-up.”

The England squad selection to take on Jamaica in the Co-operative International Netball Series follows a five-day training camp held by England Netball at the Sports Training Village.

England will take on Jamaica in the three-match series next month, with games at the O2 Arena in London on 22nd February, the Sky Dome Arena in Coventry on 24th February and the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham on 26th February. Games will be shown as live by Sky Sports.

TeamBath’s next game in the Superleague is on Saturday (31st January) at Northern Thunder and the team return to action at the Sports Training Village on Friday 6th February when they host Team Northumbria in a 6.30pm start.
