TeamBath got back to winning ways with a 62-42 victory over Leeds Carnegie in the Co-operative Netball Superleague.
An emphatic 17-goal winning margin in the final quarter ended Leeds’ resistance and ensured TeamBath returned home with the spoils.
TeamBath, starting the game with a line-up that included teenager Rosie Allison at goal shooter and Lindsay Keable at goal keeper, took the opening quarter by a single goal.
The second quarter, which saw the introduction of Asha Tett at goal attack for TeamBath, was also close - with fewer opportunities created the teams tied the quarter 10-10.
TeamBath head coach Jess Garland made wholesale changes at half-time, introducing Kirsty Delves, Amanda Trounce and Sasha Corbin to the fray as she continued to try out various combinations.
There were further changes in quarter four, when TeamBath swept away Leeds, with Eboni Beckford-Chambers and Stacey Francis in commanding form in defence.
“We stepped things up in the final quarter and I was really pleased with the final quarter score,” said head coach Jess Garland.
“Our turnover through to goal was really good today. We were quite clinical with our counter attack, and that put them on the back foot.
“We were working towards particular targets both as units and as individuals,” she added. “At the moment we’re investing some time in making sure the whole squad can do a job for us. It’s not just about seven players, we’ve always been about strength in depth.
“Today was encouraging and we’re making progress,” said Garland. “Credit to Leeds for sticking with us. They were quite accurate at goal and that kept them in the game.”
TeamBath return to action against Glasgow Wildcats at the University of Bath Sports Training Village on Friday 12th February at 7.30pm.
