Table Tennis-Three continents in the Semi Finals



On day one at the ITTF Cadet Challenge in Helsingborg, Sweden, the matches in the round robin were held to find the semi-finalists of the Team event. The strong teams from Europe and Asia prevailed and will compete for the medals tomorrow.

The girls from North America also qualified for the semis beating Africa in the crucial match in the night session


North American Girls Takes Revenge on Africa
North America is in the semi-finals of the Girls’ Team event. The four US players coached by Emilia Gheorhe won 3-2 against Sweden and later also Africa. Twelve year old Lily Zhang scored the necessary third point against Africa’s Nadeen El-Dawlatly. “I was really nervous unlike in training sessions”, Zhang said after the match was over. “In such matches I can get experiences.”

One year ago in Cape Town, South Africa, the North American team was eliminated by the Africans. “I improved my game, I have much more consistence today”, the youngest player of the Cadet Challenge said.
