Surrey’s Andrea Downer wins US college tournament

Andrea, 20, and a member at Bramley Golf Club, finished three shots clear of the field in the Sea Trail women's intercollegiate tournament at Sunset Beach, North Carolina.

She was three-under par for the last two rounds of the tournament and finished with a one-under score, with rounds of 74, 71, 70.


Andrea is a second year student at Murray State where she quickly established herself as the Racers number one player. She has now had six top ten finishes.  

The runner-up was another English student, Emma Tayler from Saunton, Devon. She is a student at Bethune-Cookman College, Florida, which shared the team title at the tournament.  The successful side also included Becky  Dowell from Enmore Park in Somerset and Fern Grimshaw from Weymouth, Dorset.
