Super shooting from England sink Fast5 Diamonds

The Australian Fast5 Diamonds have gone down 27-29 to England in their opening game of the Fast5 Netball World Series courtesy of sharp shooting from the perimeter by Jo Harten.

A hat-trick of three-point Super Goals from England’s Harten, including one in the third quarter Powerplay that meant it was worth double, handed the Australians their first opening round loss at a World Netball Series tournament.

The Fast5 Diamonds used their Powerplay in the second quarter to overcome a two-goal quarter-time deficit and took a 9-8 half-time lead, however England’s held possession where possible to use up valuable time.

England struck back in the third quarter with their own Powerplay to outscore Australia 14-6 courtesy of a Super Goal from Harten and a flawless Rachel Dunn under the post.

In the final quarter, two Super Goals from Caitlin Thwaites and one from Karyn Howarth almost saw Australia come from behind, cutting the margin to two goals. However England did enough to hold on for victory.
