Stunning win for Quail at the NSW Open

Invermay’s Rebecca Quail has engineered a stunning win for her triples combination at the NSW Open at Wagga Wagga.

Despite facing off against the powerful Australian outfit of Carla Odgers, Claire Duke and Julie Keegan, Quail reaffirmed why she made her debut for Australia in last month’s test series against South Africa with a devastating display.

Playing alongside Pine River’s Noelene Dutton and Raymond Terrace young gun Natasha Van Eldik, Quail delivered a number of telling conversion shots as she skipped her outfit to a final showdown against Judy Croft, Jan Rolph and Gloria Clifton on the back of their 9-5, 7-6 victory.

Merrylands’ Jan Rolph, Bomaderry’s Judy Croft and Gloria Clifton advance to the final after a hard fought tie-break win over Kate Carriage, Jan Agar and Beth Quinlan, 10-6, 6-2, 3-0.

Earlier in the morning in the women’s pairs, past champions Claire Duke and Julie Keegan played their way into the final with a comprehensive win over Geelong West’s Natalie Gurr and defending titleholder Joan Tennent 10-8, 13-2.

They will be joined by reigning NSW Open triple champion Maryann Parcell and Pine River’s Noelene Dutton who defeated Lisa Prideaux and Arleen Jeffery 17-6, 3-13, 3-2.
