Strong interest to host FIVB age group Volleyball tournaments
Germany were the FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship winners in 2009
With the deadline for applications having closed on November 30, the International Volleyball Association (FIVB) is pleased to announce that eight countries have applied to host the 2011 editions of the FIVB Junior and Youth World Championships.
Applications from the national federations of Iran and Brazil have been received at the FIVB head office in Switzerland to host the FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship in (Tehran) and (Niteroi and Rio de Janeiro) respectively while Peru (Lima) is in contention to host the FIVB Women’s Junior World Championships. The FIVB Boy’s Youth World Championship has one hosting candidate in Egypt (Cairo) while the Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City), Mexico (Mexicali or Tijuana) and Turkey (Ankara) Volleyball Federations are candidates to host the FIVB Girl’s Youth World Championship.
A decision on the host countries of each of the events will be announced by the end of February.
The biannual FIVB age group events were held this year in Pune, India (Men’s Junior), Baja California, Mexico (Women’s Junior), Jesolo - Bassano del Grappa, Italy (Boys’ Youth) and Nakhonratchasima, Thailand (Girls’ Youth).
