The LPGA Tour returns to southern Florida this week for the inaugural and star-studded Stanford International Pro-Am, hosted at Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club. The $2 million event is also the fourth Winner Event in the first half of LPGA Playoffs 2008, which means the winner automatically advances to the 32-player field at the season-ending ADT Championship.
Within the 72-hole event is a 54-hole stroke-play pro-am tournament. The field will play the first two rounds on both the Soffer and Miller Courses. A 36-hole cut will reduce the field to the top-70 professionals and low 20 teams. The team competition will end on Saturday, while on Sunday, the professionals will vie for the $300,000 winner's check. The Stanford International Pro-Am is the first professional-amateur tournament on the LPGA schedule since the 2001 Office Depot at Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, Fla., which was won by Grace Park.
