Hamchétou Maïga, the captain of Mali female team was appointed as best player (MVP) of the XXth Africa Nations Championship for women held from 20th to 30th September 2007 in Dakar and Thiès, Senegal. Hamchétou Maïga is 29 years old and plays at WNBA (USA) in Hornet Comets, she also is among the African female selection (5 majors) as Carla Dasylva (Mozambique), Diéné Diawara (Mali), Christina Andrade (Angola) and the Senegalese Aya Traoré.
Diéné Diawara, was also appointed as best rebounds woman of this tournament while the best scorer was Christina Andrade from Angola and the best three points scorer was Carla Dasylva of Mozambique.
Angola ended third by beating Mozambique (73-58) during the classification game played also yesterday at Marius Ndiaye stadium in Dakar.
