With no GB gymnasts ever making the final it was an incredible evening with Bryony taking the silver with a score of 56.040 behind Canada’s Rosie Maclennan (56.465) and ahead of China’s Li Dan (55.885).

Bryony began well in qualifications with the 4th highest set routine and she continued well in her voluntary routine looking cool and calm under pressure to score 100.075 to secure her place in the final. As she took the trampoline for the final routine she was extremely focussed and performed the routine of her life to make the Olympic podium.
Kat Driscoll also made history in making the final for GB with some impressive qualifying routines. She also performed excellently in the final finishing 6th with a final total of 53.645.

Bryony Page: "I didn't expect to medal and to get a silver, I couldn't have asked for more. I got up there and did my absolute best on that trampoline when it mattered in the final.

I put so much effort in, I've put everything into training and to improving myself as a person and an athlete and it's paid off in the most amazing way I can think of.

I think once I've retired from the sport and watching the Olympics not as an athlete is when it will sink in. It's been an incredible journey so far and hopefully more to come."
Kat Driscoll: “It's a real mix of emotions. Coming in the big aim was to make a final so it was really good to have done that. We haven't had a girl make the final yet, so for two of us to do it is amazing. I'm disappointed, my routine in the final was much better to the prelims and it didn't score much different so on a personal level that's just a bit disappointing, but I think it's four years of hard work to not be in the same position I was in London. I'm so happy and proud to have just made the final but a little disappointed with the routine I competed isn't what I was training. We're from a sport that no one really knows about and we get lost in some of the bigger sports so it's good that two of us made the finals and to get a medal.”

Jane Allen, British Gymnastics CEO: “This is a historic moment for Great Britain and British Gymnastics Trampoline programme. This medal has been years in the making and the result proves just what’s possible when plans, dreams and investment combine.
We are absolutely thrilled and would like to congratulate Bryony, the talented coaches and team who support her, as well as UK Sport, The National Lottery and the English Institute of Sport – we couldn’t do it without them.  This is a very special night.”
