Santander Worlds Test Event

The city is hosting from today until next Sunday the test event race previous to the world Olympic classes Championships

Monday, 9th of September of 2013. - Santander is on trial, with a rehearsal of a sport event at the highest level to confront the Olympic classes’ championships and that next year that will be hold in the Cantabrian city.

                The Test Event – Ciudad de Santander Trophy which is taking place from today Monday until next Sunday 15th of September, is an International competition with a vast representation of competitors from the five continents, under the ISAF,s official 10 classes that will meet up in the bay of Santander.


               After the opening ceremony celebrated yesterday, the expectation for today was more on the technical side, with the racing office, the accreditations office and the central office of control, as well as the press office working nonstop from first hours of the morning.




               The CEO of the Santander 2014 world championship for Olympic classes Mr.Rafael Munilla, as well as the technical director Ion Echave had as a strict objective in the starting of the event, with all the officials in their position and 2 racing courses in action, Alfa and Charlie, the first one in front of the Sardinero and the second one towards the North of the Santa Marina Isles.


In the women category, looks like the Australians will be well positioned Lara Vadlau and Jolanta Katarzyna, with one point. In second place the USA team Annie Haeger and Briana Provancha with another point. The third team in the podium is the sisters form Estonia Marjaliisa y Elise Umb with 3 points.







After seeing battles in the 470 and fin class, tomorrow there will be more expectation with the entry of new classes in the racing course.

The RS:X –in both men’s and woman category, the always spectacular 49 er and 49 er FX and the new Olympic class entry Nacra 17 will all fight for the ciudad de SANTANDER  Trophy.



Another novelty for this coming Tuesday will be the entry of the 6 race courses in action, situated between the Bay of Santander and the Sardinero.

The 470 men’s and woman will continue in the Alfa area, the Finn class will continue in the Charlie area together with the new Nacra class, as for the boards RS:X-in both categoriess will race in Delta area (in front of the beaches of Somo and Laredo).


The new entries of the 49er and 49er FX will also mean a new racing area Bravo in Cabo Mayor.


               The Race committee representing the different race areas have established for this Tuesday 2 races for each class , except the 49er and 49er FX that hold up to 3 races a day of a maximum of 16 programmed for the CIUDAD DE SANTANDER Trophy
