Salford makes perfect appointment for World Cup triathlon
Salford City Council has re-appointed Nottingham based sports marketing consultancy, Perfect Motion, to provide PR support for the Salford BG Triathlon World Cup, which returns to the city this year on 29 July.
The appointment follows last year's successful collaboration with the agency, that generated over £17 million in media coverage for this spectacular event.
The 2006 triathlon also earned the title of Tourism Event of the Year at the Manchester Tourism Awards and Best Triathlon of the Year by industry magazine, 220.
Perfect Motion will be joining forces with the internal marketing and PR team at Salford City Council with a brief to deliver a heavy-weight national media relations campaign to raise awareness of the world-class sporting event and drive spectators to Salford Quays.
Commenting on their appointment, tourism marketing manager, Lindsey Hebden said: "We were really impressed with Perfect Motion's approach, coupled with their energy and enthusiasm for triathlon.
"This year we will be looking to capitalise on the growing success of the event and really drive the message home that, as well as being an arena for World Class sport, it's a great, free and fun day out."
Melanie Berry of Perfect Motion said: “The Salford BG Triathlon World Cup is a fantastic event, and we are delighted to have been reappointed.
“Our PR campaign this year will again focus on the national media, with a brief to encourage people to come and see the event and Salford Quays for themselves. With Britain having the current men’s world champion, as well as junior champions, we anticipate a lot of interest in the event this year, especially as we are just one year out from the 2008 Olympic Games.”
This award winning World Cup race returns to the iconic backdrop of Salford Quays this summer, promising an adrenalin fuelled day, where spectators can watch top international athletes compete on the demanding course in the swim, bike and run.
As the host city of internationally significant mediacity:uk and future home of the BBC, all eyes will be on Salford Quays as the fifth consecutive venue for the only World Cup triathlon in the UK on the international circuit.
