In her toughest fight to date, Saccurato will face WBC World Champion Jessica Rakoczy (27-2, 10KO's) in a 10 round showdown in Rakoczy's backyard, the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in LeMoore, CA.
Saccurato is used to fighting on the road, with her biggest victory coming last November when she defeated WBC Lightweight Champion Jelena Mrdjenovich in her hometown of Edmonton, Canada for the interim WBC championship. Saccurato later vacated her WBC title to fight Holly Holm in an historic bout, the first time there has been a women's match placing 6 World Championship titles on the line. Now she looks to regain her WBC Lightweight Championship.
Sacccurato states "It is definitely harder winning a fight in someone else's hometown. You just pray that the decision is fair, and when you do win, it just makes the victory all that much sweeter. While Rakoczy has much more experience than myself, we are both ranked in the top two in the world."
What makes this fight especially unique is the fact that Saccurato will have an all-female corner including her partner, former US National light welterweight boxing champion Angel Bovee as well as WIBA junior featherweight champion Melissa Hernandez and GUB junior welterweight champion Belinda Laracuente.
Sacccurato states , "While Angel is always in my corner, this is the first time we have tried this particular team as my coaches and corner. I love the compatibility we all share and to have three female champions behind me, makes us not just unique, but unstoppable in the ring! In my corner I don't have to worry about any ego clashes, we are all there for the same purpose, to grow personally and professionally and to advance women's boxing. Women's boxing needs these types of excellent fights to help it gain spectator support and more visibility worldwide. "
