INDIANAPOLIS - Robin Reynolds has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after setting the 400m national record and winning three individual titles in the youth girls' (13-14) division Sunday at the 2007 USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Lisle, Illinois.
Reynolds (Miami, Fla.) clocked a time of 53.10 seconds to win the youth girls' 400m. Her time bettered the previous record of 53.40, which was set by Brandi Cross in 2002. On Saturday, Reynolds won titles in the 200m and 800m, with times of 24.34 and 2:15.78, respectively. She just missed claiming a fourth title Sunday in the 100m, where she finished second by .01 in a time of 11.99.
Now in its sixth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
