The Bandits jumped out to a commanding 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Nikki Nemitz got the offense started with her leadoff double and was able to advance to third off Kimi Pohlman’s infield hit. Danielle Zymkowitz stepped up to bat and delivered an RBI double that scored Nemitz. Megan Wiggins then followed suit with a triple allowing Pohlman and Zymkowitz to score. Wiggins was then able to steal home due to a miscommunication between the Racers.
The Racers got on the scoreboard in the third inning when Kaylyn Castillo’s double allowed Brianna Turang to score, cutting the Bandits lead to 4-1.
After another nearly two-hour rain delay play resumed in the bottom of the third.
The Bandits extended their lead in the fourth inning when Pohlman got on base with a single. Amber Patton’s RBI triple allowed her to score, making the score 5-1 going into the fifth inning.
The Bandits kept the offense up in the fifth inning adding two more runs to their lead. Tammy Williams hit a double to left field and was brought home by Brittany Cervantes’ line drive home run to center field to make the score 7-1.
With tonight’s win Gascoigne improves to 3-1 on the season while Renfroe drops to 7-6.
The Bandits and Racers return to Rosemont tomorrow for the fourth and final game of the series. First pitch is set for 3:05 pm.
