Powell unveiled her 21 players at a press conference at team sponsor Nationwide's headquarters and selected nine Arsenal players, five of which - Katie Chapman, Faye White, Mary Phillip, Kelly Smith and Rachel Yankey - have won more than 50 caps for their country.

Five Everton players will be making the journey to the Far East, including experienced duo Rachel Unitt and Fara Williams, who have 113 appearances between them. Toffees goalkeeper Rachel Brown has also been named in the squad.

New Chelsea players Casey Stoney and Eniola Aluko have been called-up, as has Leeds forward Sue Smith, who missed Euro 2005 through injury.

England qualified for the showpiece event - their first since 1995 - in dramatic style last September.

Needing a draw in France to edge out their hosts, England's path seemed assured when Hoda Lattaf diverted a Yankey free-kick into her own net.

France fought back and equalised with a minute to go but the Three Lions stood firm to book a place at the World Cup.

Powell's side have been drawn against Japan, Germany and Argentina in the group stages, with their first match scheduled for 11 September.

England fans will be able to keep up with the action as all the Three Lions' games will be screened live on BBC2, while 25 games during the tournament, including all England matches, will be on Eurosport.
