Ochoa, Kim tied for first-round lead

Ochoa, knowing full well that she needs a win this week to meet the requirements for entrance into the LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame, calmly recorded two eagles, four birdies and one bogey on the par-73, 6,539 yard course to take the first-round lead for the 11th time in her career. She has finished no worse than fifth with four victories and four runner-up finishes in those 11 events. Fresh off her second career major championship victory at the Kraft Nabisco last week, the 25-year-old is playing in her eighth Mexican-based event since joining the LPGA Tour in 2003. She won the Corona Championship in 2006 at 20-under 272 and has finished in the top-10 in five of the previous seven events.
