Northern Ireland netballers take bronze in Singapore

A brilliant 44-34 win over Canada on Friday put the Northern Ireland netball team into the finals of the 5 Nations Cup in Singapore. Posting their first win in the tournament they were unlucky to lose against Sri Lanka and Singppore earlier in the week and were beaten by Trinidad & Tobago.

In the final play offs they faced Sri Lanka who had already defeated them 55-50 on Thursday but with the brilliance of the Bowman sisters Lisa and Kyla in the circle the team put on a superb display to take revenge on the Sri Lankans and win the bronze medal with 10 goals to spare 61-51 the final tally.

Denise Prue was delighted as coach and expects the experience to benefit this young squad as they resume training for the Europeans in February.
