Netballers prepare for Superleague Showdown League
Team Bath¹s netballers have made sure of a top-three finish in phase one of the Superleague and with it a place in the Showdown League for phase two.
Team Bath overcame Yorkshire Jets 54-51 in Friday night¹s penultimate phase one game.
They travel to Hertfordshire Mavericks on Friday (22 March) for their last game of phase one in joint first place with Surrey Storm.
Defender Samantha Cook made a welcome return from injury against Jets playing the second half of the game.
Head coach Jess Thirlby said the Mavericks clash is an important fixture for the team. ³It's a really important game for us and Bath v Mavericks has never let anyone down. It¹s an important part of our preparation for phase two.²
Eight of Team Bath¹s players will be away on England duty between the Mavericks fixture and the Showdown League with Pamela Cookey, Kadeen Corbin, Serena Guthrie, Stacey Francis and Mia Ritchie travelling to Jamaica with the senior England team and Rosie Allison, Samantha Cook and Yasmin Parsons in Australia with the under-21s.
³After this game eight of our players will be away on tour with England, so we won¹t have them together to train as a team,² said Thirlby.
³That said, they will be away playing top quality competitive netball, so we¹d expect them to come back prepared, match fit and ready to go for the second phase of the Superleague.²
Details of Team Bath¹s home fixture for the Showdown League should be available early next week so keep an eye on the Team Bath website for ticket details at http://www.teambath.com/sport/netball/superleague/
