Marco Aurelio Motta is a former coach of the Italy and Brazil women's national teams
Ankara, Turkey, December 23, 2010 – The Turkish Volleyball Federation has appointed the Brazilian Marco Aurelio Motta to coach and mentor the women's national team that recently wrote history by placing sixth at the 2010 FIVB Women's World Championship in Japan.
After putting pen to paper, Motta returned to Brazil to tie up loose ends in his home country before he embarks on his role with the 'Sultans'. As soon as Motta comes back from Brazil, he will be introduced to the Turkish media and will start working with the women's youth national team as they prepare for the 2011 CEV Youth European Championships to be played in Ankara. Motta will also get involved in developing the squad created at high-school level by the Turkish Federation.
Motta knows the Turkish Volleyball family very well after coaching the club side Eczacibasi Istanbul through the seasons 2004-2007. He is considered one of the best Volleyball coaches in the world through his major achievements both in South America, where he coached the Brail women's national team from 2001-2003, and in Europe, where he was the Italy women's national-team coach from 1991-1996.
