London announces Olympic volleyball test events for 2011

London, UK, , 2011 – As part of the preparations for the London 2012 Olympic Games, the British capital will host both the London International Invitational Volleyball Tournament as well as the already announced FIVB Beach Volleyball International event during 2011, it was announced on Thursday.
The newly revealed London International Invitational will take place from July 20-24 at Earls Court in the west of the city, the setting for the Olympic competition next year. Additionally, a test event for the beach volleyball competition will be held in Horse Guards Parade from August 9-14, just a stone's throw from Downing Street, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace.

The London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) said these events will help test a number of operational aspects ahead of the Games, most notably the courts, results, scoring and timing systems. The London 2012 Olympic Games will take place from July 27-August 12 next year.
