Lisa Marr wins 2nd OB Cues Ladies 9-Ball Tour event for 2009

The OB Cues Ladies 9-Ball Tour held its 7th stop of the 2009 season at Rusty’s Billiards in Arlington, TX the weekend of October 24th & 25th.  Forty-one players arrived on Saturday morning to compete in the $2000 added event.  Several local fans were on-hand throughout the event, bringing the ladies delicious food and treats and good luck as well.  In addition to all things good, long time tour player Shayla Neris provided some awesome streaming coverage for our spectators and fans that couldn’t be there in person.  She provided some new equipment and several of our regular tour players added fun-filled conversations and great commentary for all the streaming matches.  If you missed the action in person or on the stream, all of the recorded matches can still be viewed at our U-Stream site, http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ob-cues-ladies-tour.

Finishing in the 9-12th spots on Saturday evening were Monica Anderson, Tara Williams, Borana Andoni, and Christy Powell, her highest finish to date.  After late play on Saturday night, only 8 ladies returned in the main event on Sunday morning.  On the winner’s side matches, Amanda Lampert defeated Melinda Bailey and Lisa Marr defeated Deanna Henson.  Finishing 7-8th were Cristina De La Garza and Kim Pierce, both out of Austin, TX, while local area players, Melinda Bailey and Ashley Nandrasy finished 5-6th.  Deanna Henson finished 4th, while Orietta Strickland moved up one spot from her last event to capture 3rd place.

For the hot seat match, Lisa defeated Amanda 7-3 and with Amanda capturing the B-side of the bracket, these two would face each other again in the finals.  Lisa was trying to avoid a repeat of the last stop, when Amanda took the win against her in a two-set finals match.  Lisa managed to stay in control and won by a margin of 7-4.  With this win, Lisa not only took home $750 for her efforts, she also clenched the Tour Champion spot for the second year in a row.

In the second chance event, 21 players competed on Sunday morning.  Tara Williams took the top honors, finishing just after the main event.  Michelle Cortez finished second, while Borana Andoni finished third.

Thanks to Rusty’s Billiards for hosting this event and for the hospitality shown to the players by your staff.  A big thanks to OB Cues for the donation of the raffle cues that made our event possible, as well as our additional sponsors Tiger Products and Ozone Billiards.

Our Championship stop will be at Legend’s Billiard the weekend of November 21st & 22nd.  Hope to see you there for Good Pool, Good Friends, Good Times!!!
