International Women's Friendly
5pm, Thursday 17 July 2008
Unterhaching FC

Hope Powell takes her squad to Germany next month for a friendly with the reigning World and European Champions in Unterhaching.

England ended the season with a fine 6-1 victory away to Belarus, and will now take on Silvia Neid's side as they prepare for the final two qualifiers in their bid to reach Euro 2009 in Finland.

Powell's side have faced Germany on a number of occasions in recent years, and have forced impressive draws in the two most recent meetings. At the China Cup last January, and during the World Cup in September, England drew 0-0.

The performance during the World Cup group stage was all the more remarkable by the fact that Germany would win every other match they played during the tournament, on their way to becoming the first side to retain the World Cup.
