Lang, Petterson tied for lead at The Kapalua classic

Second-round notes

70 players make the cut. The second round of the inaugural Kapalua LPGA Classic is complete and 70 at 4-over-par 148 will compete this weekend for a share of the $1.5 million purse. Trade winds gusted above 20 mph for the second consecutive day on the island of Maui, keeping scores relatively low. Norway’s Suzann Pettersen and Brittany Lang, of Texas, are tied for the lead at 4-under-par following two rounds of play on the Bay Course at Kapalua Resort.

23-year-old Lang played consistent golf for the second consecutive day, carding three birdies and two bogies to move to 4-under-par (69-71=140) for the week. Lang, a Duke University graduate, rolled in birdie putts of 12, 25 and 8 feet on the day. A successful amateur golfer, Lang is winless in her third year on the LPGA Tour despite two career runner-up finishes including a tie for second at this season’s Sybase Classic Presented by ShopRite.
