LAAX OPEN 2020 KICKED OFF

The LAAX OPEN, Europe’s most prestigious Snowboard event, is taking place from January 13th – 18th, 2020. LAAX, known as the most progressive resort in Europe when it comes to Freestyle sports, is once again the center of attention for the global Snowboarding community and will provide a week to remember for all participants and spectators.

The action started today with the Slopestyle qualifications men up on Crap Sogn Gion under blue skies. Riders had a lot of fun on the innovative Slopestyle course with six features. Top favorites like Olympic gold medalist Sebastien Toutant (CAN), Staale Sandbech (NOR), Sven Thorgren (SWE), Mons Roisland (NOR) and Olympic Slopestyle Champion Red Gerard (USA) qualified for the Semi-Finals later on this week as well as Clemens Millauer (AUT) and the locals Nicolas Huber and Moritz Thönen (both SUI).

On Thursday the Halfpipe riders will be in action for the first time, among them last year’s winner Scotty James (AUS), the Swiss armada led by Olympic Champion Iouri Podladtchikov, Spain’s Queralt Castellet and 2018 LAAX OPEN winner Jiayu Liu (CHN),

Highlights of the week are the Slopestyle finals on Friday and the Superpipe night finals on Saturday. New this year is the TAG Team Crossover Slopestyle Session on Saturday noon. For the first time Snowboarders and Freeskiers will battle together as teams in a head-to-head format.
