KIMBERLY JOINES CONTINUES PARA-ALPINE WINNING STREAK IN FRANCE

Canada adds two more podiums at IPC World Cup in Queras, FRA

QUERAS, FRA (January 14th, 2008)

The result continues an impressive streak for Joines, who has a total of eight consecutive gold medals in the Ladies sitting category this World Cup season.

Even though Joines won the race by just under five seconds, with a total two-run time of two minutes and 18.40 seconds, she was still thinking about how to improve in tomorrow’s GS.

“I’m definitely going to turn earlier and keep my line a little tighter to the panels tomorrow,” said Joines.

Lauren Woolstencroft (Calgary, AB / North Vancouver, BC) captured second place in the Ladies standing category. Woolstencroft (2:15.77) was less than a second behind the winner, Andrea Rothfuss from Germany who finished in a two-run time of 2:14.88. Andrea Dziewior (Nanaimo, BC) finished in eighth.

In the Ladies visually impaired category, Carly Grigg (Victoria, BC) and guide Julie-Christine Roy-Ruel (Lachenaie, QC) secured a fourth place finish.

The IPC World Cup races in Queras, FRA continue tomorrow with a giant slalom. There will be a day off after that followed by two days of slalom races.
