Kim holds one-stroke lead at LPGA State Farm Classic

Kim, who has a pair of second-place finishes at the event under her belt from the 2004 and 2007 events, notched seven birdies and an eagle while recording the course record at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Ill., and also taking a one-stroke lead over Sun Young Yoo (28-36=64, -8). Jee Young Lee (31-34=65, -7) and Kristy McPherson (32-33=65, -7) are two strokes back at 7-under 65 and tied for third place.

In all, 100 players finished at even par or better on the par-72, 6,608-yard Panther Creek CC, despite hot and humid conditions in Springfield, Ill. Temperatures reached the mid-90s in the afternoon hours, but winds were low in the Midwest and resulted in premium scoring conditions.
