KEN - Kenya Ports whip USIU, stem Eagle wins in league ties

NAIROBI (Premier league) - Kenya Ports Authoity (KPA) won two crucial ties to enhance their quest of finishing at the top of the women's Premier League ahead of this weekends play off matches.

In their two top matches played at their Makande Welfare gymnasium base, the porters crushed earlier pace setters United States International University (USIU) 63-23 on Saturday.

KPA toyed with USIU at will leading in all the four quareters as a scared Flames failed to put up a fight. They were up 10-4, 20-9, 19-8 and 14-7 in this lopsided win.

On Sunday, KPA were stretched by Eagle Wings before pipping the Nairobi side 48-46. The victors took the opening two quarters 17-9, 12-6 before trailing 10-18 and 8-13 in the last two.

All the four teams KPA, Wings, USIU and Sprite Storms are deadlocked on 28 points and according to Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Agina Wesonga the decider is on Friday.

"All the four teams are have 28 points whoever wins the deciding tie on Friday between KPA and Storms will be number one and the loser second." he said.

The 12 team play offs matches will start on Saturday at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium with KPA hosting Game Two and if need be Game Three at the Makande gym.

Elswwhere, former national champions Posta pounded World Hope 105-64 to win the Provincial play Offs in a one sided finals played at Railways Club.

This encounter, played on Sunday and expected to be a tight show was a cake walk for the victors who led 38-12 in the first quarter and 22-19 in the second.

After resumption, Posta overwhelmed Hope stretching the advantage to a 23-17 margin and 25-16 in the third and fourth quarter respectively.It was their sixth straight win over their rivals.

On fire Ben Oluoch and Ken Ondiek each hit 30 points while Franklin Delano managed 20 for the Nairobi champions. Evans Orenge potted 14 and Eric Khayere 11.

The two NBA giants got promotion to the national division One after they won their semi finals. Posta hit Nakuru Vijana 76-23 while Hope shut our Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA)University 94-80.
