KEN - Kenya moves to camp on Monday for the AAG preparations

NAIROBI (All Africa Games) - Kenya national women's team moves to camp at Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani, on Monday to start strict training for the 9th All Africa Games.

The move will boost the team chances in the festival that stats in Algiers, Algeria on July 12. They have been training at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.

The girls played their third friendly match in which USA based Rose Ouma showed the way as they beat Emyba 74-70 in a tight show played at the same venue.

Ouma, who has been trainiung with the teams since her arrival late last week, showed the way in the pivotal last two quarters scoring game high 18 points.

The team trailed 20-23 in the first quarter but recovered to take a 16-12 edge in the second. Then Ouma, who is a stuednt in Illinois took charge.

She showed the way in the pivotal two quarters sinking team high 18 points. Joyce Makungu 15 points, Gladys Wanyama 13, Hilda Luvandwa and Eunice Ouma each had eight while Caroline "Majeng" Achieng made six.

In their two other friendly matches against Emyba, who plays in the Sasanet Nairobi provincial league, Kenya won 60-62 but lost 53-68 to a combined referees side.

Head coach Ronny told Fiba that among the glaring mistakes he saw during the tie was that the team needs to improve in its perimeter shooting and boxing out.

"I want to encourage alot of perimeter shooting and in theabsecnce of Maureen Obudho I am even thinking of even encourage Achieng to play as a three man." noted Owino.

He said that defense also was still a problem since there are a few lapses in the way the team adjust from the zone to the man to man situation and boxing out.

"These are areas where we will work on when the teams moves to Kasarani next week. Endurance is another since the players tend to tire within a few minutes of play." he said.

In a related development, Owino confirmed that the team's front court will get a huge boost when Josephine Owino and Lorraine Achieng arrive this
weekend.

Owino and Achieng are based in the USA and are expected to arrive in Nairobi by this weekend. Achieng arrives on Friday while Owino arrival date is Sunday.

"On Monday when the team finally moves to Kasarani we would be able to do alot as a team. The oveesease based players will be of tremendous help to our chances." he observed

Meanwhile, Qatar Army team coach Mohammed Muse Abdirahman gave few tips to the team during their Monday's training sessions.

The tactician also donated 11 balls and training kits to the team.

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) chairman Agina Wesonga and head coach Owino thanked the tactician for the kind gesture.
