Japan girls' beaten by US volleyball women in friendly match

Colorado, USA, March 3, 2011 - The US women's training team defeated the Japan girls' youth team in straight sets (25-10, 25-12, 25-17) on Wednesday evening in a friendly match held at Concordia University in Irvine, California as the visitors continue there preparations for the 2011 FIVB Girls’ Youth Volleyball Championship, set to take place in Turkey from August 12-21.

The result follows on from USA’s win over the same side a day earlier, also by three sets to one (25-11, 25-20, 25-19).

A total of nine US players scored at least one point during the match with Kindra Carlson, Becky Perry and Kaitlin Sather all scoring 11 points. Sather tallied a team-high 10 kills on 20 errorless attacks to go with a block, while Perry totaled eight kills on 16 errorless attacks to go with three aces. Carlson produced six kills on 13 errorless swings, along with three aces and two blocks.
