ITALIAN KARBON TAKES OPENING WORLD CUP LADIES GS


SÖLDEN, AUT (October 27th, 2007) – The opening Giant Slalom race of the 2007/08 World Cup season was won by Italian Denise Karbon in a two-run combined time of two minutes and 23.21 seconds.


American Julia Mancuso was second and Kathrin Zettel of Austria finished third.

Brigitte Acton (Mont-Tremblant, QC), a two-time World Junior Championships silver medalist, skied off course and did not finish her opening run while Emilie Desforges (Montréal, QC) and Gail Kelly (Ste-Anges de Beauce, QC) did not qualify for the second run.
