ITALIAN DENISE KARBON CONTINUES GIANT SLALOM DOMINANCE


No Canadians reach second run in Spindleruv Mlyn GS

 

SPINDLERUV MLYN, CZE (January 5th, 2008) – Denise Karbon of Italy continues to roll, picking up her fourth consecutive World Cup Ladies Giant Slalom victory today in Spindleruv Mlyn, CZE.

 

Karbon won today’s race in a two run combined time of two minutes 16.98 seconds. Finland’s Tanja Poutiainen was second with Elisabeth Goergl of Austria third.

 

Today’s race can be seen on the Pontiac Alpine Ski Series on CBC beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET (12 p.m. MT) and was also available live on CBC’s Country Canada network.

 

There were no Canadians to qualify for the second run, with Christina Lustenberger (Invermere, BC) coming the closest, finishing 43rd. The top 30 racers qualify for Run #2. Emily Brydon (Fernie, BC) finished the opening run in 56th while Britt Janyk (Whistler, BC) was 60th.

 

The Ladies World Cup event in Spindleruv Mlyn, CZE continues tomorrow with a Slalom.
