Tarpon Springs, FL (May 1, 2007) - In it's fourth year as an event-based brand, Iron Girl continues to expand the RYKA Iron Girl National Women's Series by adding new, exciting locations to its event calendar. Today, Iron Girl announces the addition of the RYKA Iron Girl Solana Beach 10K and 5K that will take place on Saturday, July 28, 2007, in Solana Beach, CA, a beach community located approximately 30 miles north of San Diego.
"Iron Girl is excited to introduce the only all-women's running event in the San Diego area. Solana Beach provides the perfect backdrop for a destination weekend. With its ideal climate, ocean-side course and proximity to San Diego and Los Angeles, this event has it all," said Director of Iron Girl, Judy Molnar.
The event will consist of a 10K and 5K run/walk, and will attract more than 1,500 women ranging in age and fitness level from the state of California and nationwide. The course, along the scenic Pacific Coast Highway, will provide athletes with a flat and fast race experience. Registration is now open for the inaugural event. Unique to Iron Girl run/walk events, is the inclusion of a Mother/Daughter Category and the allowance of baby joggers. The Mother/Daughter Category provides an opportunity for mothers to bond with their children while being active and to get back in shape post-pregnancy. Stroller Strides, an Iron Girl partner based out of San Diego, will be on-site leading the pre-race warm-up and hosting a "Diaper Dash."
Launched in 2004 with just two events, the Iron Girl brand has grown to now include ten events nationwide, varying in distance from 5K to duathlon and triathlon. To date, more than 13,000 women have crossed an Iron Girl finish line. The Iron Girl experience provides women with a competitive platform and added amenities such as: performance shirts sized just-for-women, ChampionChip timing, personalized race bibs, custom finisher medals, a post-race catered Breakfast Café, post-race giveaways and much more.
The Iron Girl brand is supported by an interactive Web site filled with training tips, guest columnists and nutrition information. Iron Girl has also enhanced its offerings with the addition of the IronGirlShop.com with new items such as hydration and nutrition products, jewelry and sports bags. Additionally, Iron Girl will be launching a new technical apparel line in 2008.
