In ‘Lac Magog’, women’s gold for Shelley Clark (AUS)

Lausanne (SUI), August 6, 2007 – On August 4, 2007, the seventh leg of the 2007 FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix, the popular ‘Traversée du Lac Memphrémagog’, a 34 km race in Canada, confirmed the superiority.

In the women’s race, Shelley Clark from Australia confirmed her comeback and renewed her status with the victory in a FINA competition after few years without success.

18 swimmers including seven women from eight countries competed (in brackets the number of women): ARG 4 (1), AUS 1 (1), BUL 2, CAN 6 (3), ESP, 1 (1), GER 1, MKD 1, USA 2 (1).

Women – 1. Shelley Clark (AUS) 8h09m11s; 2. Erica Rose (USA) 8h19m46s; 3. Patricia Perreault (CAN) 8h35m38s

Standings after seven races:

WOMEN – 1. Esther Nunez Morera (ESP) 106 pts; 2. Celeste Puñet (ARG) 75 pts; 3. Erica Rose (USA) 64 pts
