HOPE FOR BOWDON HIGHTOWN

Bowdon Hightown enjoyed a French fancy when Lindsay French rounded off the scoring in their 4-1 win at home to second placed Slough, establishing a points lead for the first time this season. Slough’s tight defence had previously only conceded three goals in four games, but were undone by two goals in either half from the Cheshire side Jo Ellis, Julie Hope, and Lis Chaffey scoring before French.

Leicester’s Crista Cullen scored twice from penalty corners as Leicester dominated bottom of the league Poynton on their way to a 5-0 victory at Belle Vue. In the space of one minute Denise Marston-Smith celebrated her 99th and 100th league goal in the first half of Olton & West Warwicks’ 4-1 win at home to Ipswich; it was only last week that Marston-Smith had scored against Clifton, where most of those ton of goals had been scored. Clifton won by the odd goal at home to Old Loughtonians, Carla Dunnett scoring the only goal. Canterbury and Chelmsford played out a 3-3 draw in which Chelmsford rescued the points at Polo Farm by scoring twice in the last ten minutes.
