BEIJING – Émilie Heymans of St-Lambert, Que., and Marie-Ève Marleau of Laval, Que., won the silver medal Thursday on women’s 10-metre synchro at the FINA World Cup of Diving.
It was Canada’s second medal of competition. On Tuesday, Despatie and Arturo Miranda of Pointe-Claire, Que., were third.
On women’s 10-metre synchro, China's Wang Xin and Chen Ruo Lin took gold with 375.66 points. Heymans and Marleau, the Pan Am Games champions, were second at 340.05 and Australians Melissa Wu and Briony Cole were third with 334.80.
"I'm really happy," said Heymans, fourth on individual tower on Wednesday. "I think we both did great dives individually and the synchro was really good as well. We didn’t make any major errors."
Marleau rebounded from a subpar performance on individual tower and was also pleased with the showing. She said catching the Chinese for now is not the main focus.
"We're focusing on our dives and we want do our dives the best that we can," she said. "If we do that very well, we're very satisfied with that."
