Heather Foundling-Hawker from Honiton Running Club reresented England in the Anglo Celtic Plate 100km Race (62 Miles) held in Galway Ireland on Sat 28th March.

Galway is situated on the West coast of Ireland and gateway to the Atlantic ocean. The Atlantic threw all it's might at the Runners, rain, gales, sleet and a rainbow when the sun did appear briefly. As well as the weather, the race consisted of 50x 2km loops which takes great mental and physical strength to overcome.

Heather had the honour of being England Team Captain and led form the front to take first place in the women's Celtic Plate Race and UK Champion for 100km, also winning the Team Event for England. Heather's time 8hr 20 minutes was a tremendous time with the elements against the runners.

Heather has now been chosen to represent Great Britain in the World 100km Championships being held in Belgium. The race is being held at night with a start time of 20:00 and runners finishing around 3 am in the morning. No time for sleep as the prize giving is at 7am. Heather will be looking for another great race after her 9th place at the last World Championships held in South Korea.

As preparation for Belgium Heather will run the Edinburgh Marathon in which she has been invited as a Elite Athlete.Heather is really looking forward to to Edinburgh as this is a event she always wanted to run but hasn't been able to due to injury and International Racing commitments.
