Germany are Europe's team champions, standings of all four Leagues available

Germany consolidated their overnight lead throughout the third day in the top flight of the European Athletics Team Championships and were crowned as the continental champions for the third occasion, following on from their successes in 2009 and 2014, on Sunday (25).

The Germans, with seven individual event victories to their name over the three days, finished with 321.5 points in Lille Métropole.

Poland achieved their highest ever position in second place with 295 while hosts France just edged out Great Britain by one point, 270 to 269 points respectively.

At the other end of the Super League, Belarus (188.5 points) and the Netherlands (175 points) will be relegated to the First League in 2019 – the European Athletics Team Championships do not take place in years that coincide with the European Athletics Championships – along with Russia, who did not compete in Lille Métropole owing to their current international ban.

In Vaasa, at the First League, Sweden won with 320.5 ahead of hosts Finland were second with 314.5, both teams securing a return to the world’s premier team competition between nations.

They were joined by Switzerland, who will compete in the Super League in two years´ time for the first time ever, who put together a total of 305.5 points and beat Turkey to the final promotion place by just 3.5 points.
