GB Eventing European Championship substitution

Unfortunately Tinkas Time, ridden by Piggy French, has incurred a minor injury which means that he will now no longer compete in the British team at the HSBC FEI Eventing Championships in Malmo, Sweden (29 August – 1 September).

Pippa Funnell with Mrs Carol Toliver’s Mirage d’Elle has been selected to replace Piggy and Tinkas Time.

World Class Eventing Performance Manager, Yogi Breisner commented; “Tinkas Time has met with a very minor injury, therefore the decision has been made not to rush him for the Europeans when he is such an exciting prospect for the future.

“We are excited to have Pippa and Mirage D’Elle on the team; Pippa has an outstanding record when representing Britain at Championship levels on a number of different horses.”

Performance Director Will Connell said: “We are very lucky to have someone of Pippa’s experience and talent to step in to the team but very sorry to lose Piggy who has demonstrated that she too is a winner at Championship level.” Pippa completes the six strong British squad. All riders compete as individuals at the Championships, with four riders selected on event to compete as the team in the team competition (the results of the two riders competing solely as individuals will not have any weighting on the overall team score).

All six riders are members of the World Class Programme, which is generously supported by Lottery and Exchequer funding via UK Sport. The Programme incorporates both the Development and Performance Programmes and the Equine Pathway, and works closely with the three British Equestrian Federation Olympic Member Bodies, British Dressage, British Eventing and British Showjumping.
