NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 15, 2010) - The Chicago Bandits used three home runs and a two-hit performance from Jennie Finch in a 7-0 shutout of the Tennessee Diamonds.
A crowd of 352 fans watched the National Pro Fastpitch game Thursday night at Draper Diamond on the campus of Lipscomb University. The Bandits wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Vicky Galindo, the second batter in the game, slammed a solo home run over the right field fence. Jennie Finch helped herself out with a single to right center that scored Rachel Folden who slid in with run No. 2.
Folden led off the third inning with a blast over the center field fence to give the Bandits a 3-0 lead.
Amberly Waits, pinch-running for Finch, scored when Angela Findlay grounded to Diamonds’ shortstop Chelsea Spencer. Samantha Findlay hit a towering three-run homer to left field. Also scoring were Galindo and Folden.
Finch, 2-1, pitched for the Bandits despite spending the early part of the week in Los Angeles for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game festivities and the ESPYs. Finch struck out 10 batters and walked one in the winning effort. Megan Gibson started on the mound for the Diamonds and took the loss, dropping to 1-7. Kristin Erb relieved.
