The Fiji Women’s Basketball team will have to finish in top five at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament to qualify for the 2008 Olympics Games.
The side failed to qualify from the Oceania region and will now have to run shoulders against the top teams to have any chances of earning a trip to Beijing.
Fiji, Senegal, Angola, Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Chinese Teipei, Spain, Belarus, Latvia and Czech Republic will be divided into four groups of three teams each, when the draw is made later today in Spain.
The four winners of the quarterfinals will qualify for the Olympics while the four losers will play in the semifinals and finals for the fifth and final remaining Olympic spot.
The Olympic Qualifying round tournament will be held in Spain from 9th to 15th June.
