FIBA - Gruda too good for CBA Beijing as Ekaterinburg win

Nan Chen’s jump shot with 1:15 remaining cut Ekaterinburg’s lead to 78-74, but Sandrine Gruda, the hosts’ leading scorer with 21 points, replied with a jumper just 32 seconds from the end.

Gruda and Ekaterinburg held on for victory.

Gruda, the reigning FIBA Europe Young Player of the Year, finished nine of 12 (75%) from the floor and a perfect three of three (100%) at the stripe.

Agnieszka Bibrzycka scored 17 points and Penny Taylor, the MVP of the 2006 FIBA World Champions for Women one year ago, weighed in with 16.

CBA Beijing, who trailed for most of the game but did hold a couple of one-point leads in the second quarter, got 21 points from Lijie Mia.
