Team Faren Honda can proudly add two National Championships to their
increasing list of palmarès, winning two new jerseys as the National
Championships took place across Europe this weekend.
The team¹s Swiss Miss Jennifer Hohl and Russian rider Yulia Blindyuk have
each stormed to victory in their respective National Championships and with Olympic selection looming, their results couldn¹t have been more timely.
Hohl has had a very busy lead up to the championships while recently racing
with Faren Honda in the USA and Spain, however, her National title proved
that the heavy schedule did not hinder her performance as she raced a level
above the rest. On Saturday the 23rd of June, Jennifer took her fourth Swiss
National Championship and crossed the line with all but her thumb representing her number of Swiss victories!
After sustaining a broken collarbone at the beginning of the year, Blindyuk
has spent the first half of her season recovering back home in Russia. Yulia
returned to racing with the team at the Tour of Chongming Island in China
during May and has consistently been building her form as she looks towards
a very promising second half of the season.
Blindyuk lined up on Saturday the 23rd of June in Voronezh Russia along side
an extremely strong field of professional female cyclist from top teams all
over the globe. The Russian Championship race was 122.4kms and Yulia won the
sprint from her two breakaway companions in a time of 3hr24 min.
Both of these talented riders have played an integral role in achieving many
of the team¹s results to date and the team is proud to see them rewarded for
their commitment to their teammates.
Team Faren Honda now boasts the current Swiss National Champion, Russian
National Champion, Commonwealth Games Champion, Olympic Champion and five
times former Giro d¹Italia winner.
This week the team will turn its focus to the 2012 Giro d¹Italia Donne which
commences on Friday the 29th of June with a 139km stage in Naples. The 2012
Giro d¹Italia Donne is a challenging nine-day race finishing in Milan after
covering approximately 1000km.
The Faren Honda squad of eight will be selected and announced on Monday the
26th of June. The vibrant team is expected to have a colourful line-up with
the new jerseys amongst the starters.
