PARIS (EuroLeague Women) - Two of the players who took center stage at last summer’s Olympics were again in the limelight on Sunday at the EuroLeague Women All-Star Game.
Becky Hammon, who helped Russia capture a bronze medal in Beijing, scored 24 points to earn All-Star Game MVP honors while leading Europe to a 101-78 win over the Rest of the World team in Paris, France.
CSKA Moscow star Hammon made even more headlines by winning the Three-Point Shooting contest at half-time, edging out former Duke University standout and current Lattes Montpellier sharp-shooter Sheana Mosch.
During the third quarter of the game, Fowles, who captured a gold medal at the Olympics in her first summer with the United States senior national team, stole a Hammon pass and dunked on a fast break.
Fowles, who dunked in the EuroLeague Women this season, said of her latest slam: "That's what All-Star Games are all about. It's all about the fans and making sure everyone has a good time."
The EuroLeague Women is now at its climax, with the Final Four to be played in Salamanca, Spain, April 3-5.
Hosts Halcon Avenida will face MKB Euroleasing Sopron in one Semi-Final with UMMC Ekaterinburg going up against Fowles and two-time defending champions Spartak in the other.
