EUROLEAGUE Women - Cappie leaves Riga happy after final flourish

RIGA (EuroLeague Wommen) -

Pondexter, a Team USA point guard, scored 12 of her game-high 23 points in the last four minutes of the game to help Fener overturn a 51-41 deficit and triumph 59-55.

Fenerbahce improved to 6-2 with the victory in Group A while Riga slipped to 3-5.

CSKA Moscow are in first place after thrashing ESB Lille Metropole in the Russian capital, 101-61.

Maria Stepanova had 33 points in that victory for Gundars Vetra's team.

The success means CSKA are one of three teams still undefeated in the competition.

Group B leaders UMMC Ekaterinburg and Group D's first-placed side, Ros Casares, also won games on Wednesday to stay unbeaten.

Ekaterinburg got 22 points from Sandrine Gruda and Penny Taylor, the most valuable player at the 2006 FIBA World Championship for Women for gold-medal winning Australia, had 11 points, 12 rebounds and five assists as the Russian outfit hammered Jolly JBS Sibenik, 86-66.

The other Group B game saw Bourges Basket claim a convincing 79-59 success against Halcon Avenida.

In Group C, Spartak Moscow Region and Gambrinus Brno each improved to 7-1.

Spartak hit the century mark against Dexia W Namur, winning 102-62.

Kosit 2013 lost heavily at home to Gambrinus Brno, 78-60.

In Group D, Seimone Augustus did her best to knock Ros from the ranks of the unbeaten by scoring a game-high 22 points for Dynamo Moscow, but it wasn't enough as they lost 55-53.

USO Basket were beaten at home by MiZo Pecs, 77-72, and Germano Zama Faenza also lost heavily on their own floor, 65-40 to TEO Vilnius and their new coach Rutenis Paulauskas.
