The women’s European handball season is rapidly approaching the final stages. The draw for the Champions League semi-final matches and round 6 of the European Cup will take place on the 24th March at the EHF Headquarters in Vienna. Parallel to this, the qualification matches for the Women’s Euro 2010 (DEN/NOR), that will be played between September 2009 and May 2010, will also be drawn. The final draw on the 24th March will decide the placing of the sixteen participants in the final tournament of the Women’s 17 European Championship that is taking place in FYR Macedonia from the 25th June – 5th July 2009.
The 9th Women’s European Championship that will take place in Denmark and Norway at the end of 2010 is aiming to set a new precedent as it will be the first time that a qualification phase has ever been held in connection with this level of female competition.
The first workshop of the Women’s 2012 European Championship will take place over the weekend of the 2nd – 3rd March. President van Vliet from the Netherlands Handball Federation along with Secretary General Spaai and a further two members of the organising committee will be present at the EHF Headquarters in Vienna. From the various and numerous agenda points, the workshop will focus on the strategic event concept as well as the overall timeline of this top women’s event.
