Birmingham City ended their relegation fears with a convincing display at Charlton, winning by four goals and condemning Cardiff City to the drop.

Sally Lacey opened the scoring after just three minutes as the Blues flew out of the traps against a side struggling for confidence at the foot of the National Division.

Charlton were two goals down going into the break after Dani Bird earned a penalty and skipper Laura Bassett duly converted the spot-kick. The goal of the game came in the second period as Chelsea Weston fired a beautiful free-kick into the top corner.

The seal on the result came from a confident finish by Sinead Wade as she latched onto a fine through pass and stroked the ball home. It was a comfortable win for the visitors and means they are now safe.

Elsewhere Premier League Cup winners Everton ended Arsenal's incredible 51-game winning streak in the National Division with a goalless draw at Boreham Wood. Leeds United overcame Bristol Academy by a solitary goal from Amanda Barr, and Chelsea won at Blackburn Rovers with goals from Eni Aluko and Ellen White.
